From September 1st and for a period of two years, Evolium Technologies will benefit from the support of Innosuisse to develop its solution for the second life of lithium-based batteries in photovoltaic storage.

Innosuisse, the Swiss Innovation Agency, through its instrument Start-up innovation projects, “supports science-based projects of start-ups with significant innovation potential”. Evolium is working to improve the life cycle of lithium-based batteries, through an innovative approach to smart and automated recycling using a robotized system.

Innovating for a more circular economy

The project, entitled From Waste to Watts , convinced a panel of Innosuisse experts. Alexandre Staub, founder and CEO of Evolium, explains: “Thanks to this support from Innosuisse, we will be able to continue our mission towards a circular economy for lithium batteries in Switzerland. Innosuisse first supported this project through an innovation project without implementation partner in 2022, then through other programs such as Start-up Coaching, GoGlobal Innosuisse and an Innochèque. This renewed support in one of Innosuisse’s most competitive programs is a mark of confidence in the project and its team”.

Growth perspectives

The funding will primarily enable Evolium to consolidate its engineering team, which will work to strengthen Evolium’s unique data acquisition infrastructure and artificial intelligence systems. This consolidated approach to data and systems enables the start-up to gain deeper insights into second-life cells. With these tools and a strengthened team thanks to the support of Innosuisse, Evolium can continue its mission to extend the life cycle of lithium batteries, maintaining its commitment to the circular economy and sustainability.
