The Migros Pioneer Fund supports Evolium
February 12th, 2025

The Evolium Technologies team is delighted to announce the support of the Migros Pioneer Fund, part of the social commitment of the Migros Group. This collaboration will enable Evolium Technologies to progress towards its goal of extending the life cycle of lithium batteries through their re-use in second-life energy storage systems.
The Migros Pioneer Fund supports sustainable solutions to address societal challenges in order to initiate a systemic change towards a society ready for the demands of the future. Among these solutions, Evolium Technologies focuses on the upcycling of lithium batteries. After their initial life in electric micromobility, these batteries can be reused in energy storage systems coupled with photovoltaic installations.
Three years of collaboration ahead
For three years, the Migros Pioneer Fund will support the Evolium Technologies team in launching and developing this project, with a commitment to a circular economy. As Samira Lütscher, Project Manager for the Migros Pioneer Fund, points out: “By upcycling used batteries into new modules for domestic electricity storage, Evolium Technologies’ innovation creates both a sustainable energy solution and a cost-effective way of storing the electricity generated by photovoltaic installations”.
Towards market launch in spring 2025
After a successful pilot project in Crans-Montana and a second project currently underway in a high mountain hut in the Val d’Hérens, Evolium Technologies plans to launch its second-life batteries on the market in spring 2025. It will then be possible to purchase a modular, repairable battery with guaranteed capacity to store the energy produced by a photovoltaic system.
